America

America is the only country to routinely circumcise (posthectomize) its infants for non-religious reasons. A handful of typically anglophone countries have small minorities of people who circumcise (posthectomize) for cultural reasons. The practice is very rare in South America, Europe and Asia. There are exceptions being many Koreans and Filipinos who circumcise (posthectomize) young boys. The practice is a recent cultural export from America to Korea, while in the Philippines it may have come as a tribal rite or from early Muslim influence. Of course Muslims and Jewish peoples worldwide typically circumcise their boys (and sometimes girls for some Muslims).

America is very unique when it comes to posthectomy (circumcision.) We as a whole don't generally use religious justification for the practice of infant posthectomy (circumcision). How then, did America adopt the practice and practice it for non-religious reasons?
